The Lamp Post Project
This was the problem area that needed my help. The clients wanted interest around the lamp post and to make a statement as you pulled into the driveway. They also asked for it to look different from others in the neighborhood. I suggested evergreen shrubs, boulders, small grasses, perennials and annuals. After their plant choices were made, I weeded the area, cut a new edge, amended the soil with compost, and began planting.
Before
The project nearing completion. The small shrubs, boulders, perennials and mulch are in place. Time to add some "instant color" with the annuals. I don't like to add mulch around the annuals, as when it breaks down it steals nitrogen from the soil. I do add a slow release fertilizer to the whole bed.
During
This is how the finished project looked. The clients were very pleased.
